Diagnostic performance of PET/CT in primary malignant bone tumors

Abstract Background Nowadays, PET/CT plays a substantial role in the diagnosis of different types tumor by its ability to provide combined functional and anatomic imaging same session. The purpose this study is evaluate added value staging re-staging primary malignant bone tumors. Results Out studied 40 patients, 7 patients were referred for histologically proven tumors, their FDG-PET/CT studies yielded additional diagnostic information 28.6% them. Thirty three either assessment treatment response or follow-up detect any viable lesions; was more sensitive specific than CT with sensitivity 94.4%, specificity 86.7%, total accuracy 90.9% 88.2%, 81.2%, 84.8%. Conclusions an accurate modality evaluation tumors regarding staging, therapeutic detection metastatic disease as compared CT.
